"The good ones are already taken, now a days you have to sift through to find a good one"
Recently while listening to a single from one of the most popular Haitian musical bands-- Kreyol la. The single off their upcoming album which is cautiously titled "Triye" (which means to sort out, pluck out, or be selective and choosy). The song stipulates that all the good ones are already taken and if a person is on the market now a days you have to go through a few uncertain ones and you have to be quite choosy to find the good one if you're lucky because all the good ones already taken.
The intriguing part of that concept to me is that I'm not sure if I buy it, I mean it's the same approach as to say there's no good man or good women left out there. I always say all women are good and all man are good and what I mean by that is he/she might not be the good one for you but their match is out there and it's a matter of time for them to find each other, sometimes people are stuck in go no where situations that prevents them to find that Good one as the song says.
Let say we were to agree that all the good ones are taken, that would be to assume that the rest of us are in the process of settling with what we have at our disposal? I mean you recall that Luther Vandross song "love the one you're with" because you can't be with the one you love. Again I feel as if we are becoming the society of settling because... well at this point we can't find the good ones any more. Who's to say that the one you think is the good one, even has that same perspective on you? Often times we the story of love has a contradictory statistic, and sometimes love is 60 / 40 or less, and sometimes two people in a relationship may not share the same level of love towards each other.
There is truth though to the fact that our society has resigned, given up, quit. A society without moral for the sake of modernity, that's the common trend. What we wouldn't dream of a long time ago is displayed on front pages of media outlets or pages of social media sites, but that's also the evolution of the time, and just like the time there are things that are now more becoming for example waiting for marriage to consummate the relationship is taboo.
I don't think like a farmers we are in the plucking business, but I do know we have to remove the barriers and seek love infinitely, without regards to creed or race and culture. There are 7 billion people in the world we can't say that the ones we are meant to be with has to be plucked out of a few "bad" ones. I still believe in what's out there and I'll wait..
That's my two cents, what's yours?
